Unresolved childhood trauma reshapes the way we respond to the world, and when it is triggered, we may make choices that sometimes lead to devastating consequences — including domestic violence, drug use, homicide, and imprisonment.

I, too, might have been incarcerated if I hadn’t had the privilege and support system that I did.

It’s time to change the paradigm of how we imprison, isolate, and dehumanize the most traumatized members of our society.
